Cork System
Why Cork? Expanded cork insulation boards are an incredible partner for natural building materials like clay and lime. The boards are made by heating raw cork granules with superheated steam, causing them to expand and release their own natural resin (suberin), which glues the block together without any synthetic chemicals.
100% Natural & Chemical-Free: Because the cork bonds using its own heated resins, it contains absolutely zero synthetic glues, polyurethane, or toxic binding agents.
Massive Carbon Sink: Cork is harvested by stripping the bark without harming the tree; the oak trees then absorb up to five times more carbon dioxide to regenerate their bark, making this material highly carbon-negative.
Vapor-Permeable & Rot-Resistant: It allows moisture vapor to pass right through—preventing interstitial condensation (moisture trapping)—yet it is naturally hydrophobic and completely immune to rotting, mold, or mildew.
Dual Thermal & Acoustic Performance: The millions of air-filled microscopic cells provide stellar insulation values while simultaneously dampening impact noise and airborne sounds between rooms.
Dimensional Stability & Lifespan: Unlike synthetic foam sheets that can shrink or degrade, expanded cork maintains its shape, thickness, and insulating properties for decades under extreme temperature swings.
