Why Hempcrete?

Carbon Negative: During the hemp plant’s rapid growth combined with the ongoing absorption of carbon through the lime binders curing process, the composite material absorbs more carbon dioxide (CO2) over its lifetime than is emitted during its manufacturing and installation.

Insulation Powerhouse: It offers incredible thermal performance, keeping buildings naturally warm in the winter and cool in the summer to reduce energy demand. This is through the insulative properties of the composite material, as well its thermal mass, that stores and releases heat to passively regulate the internal temperature.

Breathable & Mold-Free: It naturally regulates humidity passively by absorbing and releasing moisture (hygroscopic), preventing toxic mold growth and improving indoor air quality.

Fire & Pest Resistant: The lime binder used to hold the hemp together petrifies over time, making the walls highly fire-resistant and completely unappealing to pests or termites.

Zero Waste: It is entirely non-toxic and biodegradable at the end of its lifecycle, meaning it won’t sit in a landfill forever like traditional concrete or drywall.
